about Ian

Ian Farrell is a photographer and journalist from Cambridge in the UK. Principally, he photographs urban documentary pictures and contemporary portraiture, using a variety of digital and traditional techniques.

Ian's shoots on Contax and Nikon cameras when in film mode and with Olympus equipment when he is working digitally. He scans using a Nikon Coolscan LS5000 onto an Apple Powerbook G4 and corrects his silly mistakes using Photoshop CS2.

Much of Ian's imagery is influenced by the photographers whose work he admires the most. These include (but are by no means limted to): Martin Parr, Zed Nelson and Julia Fullerton-Batten.

Ian is currently Editor of Professional Photographer Magazine and his first book Digital Photography Beyond the Camera is available from all good bookshops.
